Official Thread Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 (Xbox SX/PC) May 21, 2024

Well it seems digital is the future. Sony even stated in their last earnings that 70% of their game sales are now digital.

From the leaks, physical still hold a very big portion of sales especially for their blockbuster games. However the digital ratio definitely is higher than before and also because smaller indie games are also digital only.

Well, part of the issue there may have been the exclusivity on PC’s Epic Game Store

Is Hellblade 2 exclusive only on Xbox game store or steam/epic too ?

And that just implies that 30% of purchases preferred physical when available. It doesn't mean that if there was no physical version they wouldn't have bought digital at all.

I was just going by Sony's earnings report they just announced.

"Software sales (PS4 and PS5) increased 22.2 million year-over-year, to 286.4 million units. Digital software accounted for 70% of annual game sales, compared to 67% last year."

Physical holds a 30% portion for them, and shrinking (according to Sony).

Of course it wouldn't have hurt. Nobody in their right mind would imply that a physical release would hurt sales and that was never argued by anyone. But implying that no physical release is going to meaningfully harm sales, especially when PC hasn't traditionally had physical releases in years and Xbox and Playstation both have digital only versions of their consoles, is absurd.

Yeah that's including all their games including indies and everything. They have been hovering around 70 % for last couple years now.

History has shown having a physical option has helped so obviously there is some sort of connection there. Just look at all the big hitters, they all have physical presence in the market. I'm not saying that sales would tank for every game if it's digital only but physical helps definitely.

And that is what matters.

Right. All sales matter - physical or digital. Just so happens in their bigger games there is also a bigger physical presence. Which makes sense for the resale and collector market which is still going strong from my experience.

Well it has zero impact on PC sales, where the largest market is.

I think it’s on steam ABs the ms store, since it’s a play anywhere title, but not EGS…which sucks, but I guess they’re trying to appease steam, that and I don’t think many or if any ms/xbox games are on EGS

There largest "current" market for UE5 games.

Anyway

This is Awesome. I recommend not only a paid Atmos license but also a pair of Audeze Maxwell’s

Look at all the negative articles when they close a studio. Compare that to when Playstation do it.

Xbox X/S had a few sparse years and it was all doom and gloom. Now compare that to Playstations.

Starfield gets an 83 and Bethesda are finished. A playstation game gets a lower score but is the best game ever.

Phil Spencer is evil and the killer of Xbox, but Jim Ryan who ran Playstation into the ground is a god.

Want more? Because I can go all day.
I didn't actually mean that, I meant that all news is negative regardless of the subject.

And your assertion that Xbox been done dirty, Xbox made some bad decisions, and the last 2 consoles just haven't performed well. If they have a little think about what they've done wrong, they can fix it.

PlayStation did that too in the PS3 era, it was stated on many occasions it was over for them. but they done thunk it out and came back, but success breeds hubris, and I'm expecting they're due for a downfall next round.

All this is not undeserved.

My assertion isn't that.

Mearly pointing out the blatant hypocrisy. Which is undeniable.
